Have you ever wondered if pharmaceuticals are in your drinking water? An increasing number of drinking water sources across the country contain traces of pharmaceuticals. Currently the levels are not known to affect human health, but studies show contaminated water supplies are negatively affecting aquatic life and support development of drug-resistant germs. The Barrington Area Council of Governments (BACOG) is working to protect the community’s groundwater, our source of drinking water, from pharmaceutical contamination.
BACOG is hosting free educational presentations for anyone interested in learning more about prevention of pharmaceutical contamination in groundwater and the risks of improperly disposing of unused medications. This program will take place on Tuesday, November 5th at The Garlands of Barrington (1000 Garlands Lane in Barrington) and will run at 2:00 pm and again at 6:00 pm.
Presentations are FREE and open to the public, all are welcome to attend.
Presentations will be held in conjunction with BACOG’s free prescription drug take-back event for the general public with services provided by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.
