EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PREPAREDNESS WORKSHOPS

BACOG works with its members and the BACOG area community to identify training opportunities for emergency management response.  BACOG brings together local government officials, staff, first responders and community and business leaders for training and planning about how to protect our communities in the event of an emergency.


2018 EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT WORKSHOP

The scenario: a snow and ice storm in the Barrington area resulted in a loss of all internet, landline and cellular communications.  The exercise was designed to allow participants to evaluate their current response concepts, plans and capabilities to respond to the event.  Participants were asked to test their initial response and communication plans.

The scenario: at 8:15am a tornado touched down in several areas of Lake County causing heavy damage in Barrington, North Barrington, Lake Zurich, Hawthorn Woods, Mundelein and Libertyville. The tornado moved northeast at 20-30 mph, with a width covering approximately 100 meters and wind speeds higher than 150 mph. Participants practiced communication and responses.
