| In partnership with the Lake County Health Department and Lake County Sheriff’s Department, BACOG is hosting a Level 1 Private Well Water Testing and Drug Take Back Event on Tuesday, May 25th. Volunteers will be on hand to collect your water samples and unused drugs at this socially distanced drive-thru event. |

| The Drug Take Back is open to all residents, regardless of county residence. Drive by the event on May 25th and you can hand over unneeded prescription drugs to Lake County Sheriff’s officers from the comfort of your car. Accepted items include: expired solid prescriptions, unwanted or unused prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs and pills, and controlled and non-controlled substances. Please note, injected drugs and syringes can not be accepted. Water testing is provided for residents of BACOG communities who get their water from a private well. (If you are on municipal water, your water is maintained and already routinely tested according to IEPA guidelines.) For those on a private well, it is recommended that you test your water annually. This testing looks for contamination including Coliform Bacteria, E. Coli, and Nitrates. Typically 14-17% of BACOG water samples have been found to be contaminated with bacteria. Testing kits must be purchased in advance. They will be available May 17th through May 21st at the BACOG office and the following village halls/township offices: Barrington Hills, Barrington Township, Deer Park, Lake Barrington, South Barrington, and Tower Lakes. Kits cost $16. Checks made out to Lake County Health Department or cash are accepted (exact change please). You should draw your water sample on May 25th. Then drive by the Jewel Tea Pavilion in Citizens Park in Barrington between 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. to drop your water sample off with Lake County Health Department officials. |
