Keep local tax dollars in your community

Do you feel it is important to keep local tax dollars in your community?  Local services could be at risk if communities lose their Local Government Distributive Funds (LGDF), which help provide essential protections and services to residents.  Springfield is attempting to divert some of these funds owed to local communities to pay for Illinois’ state deficit.  Taking a portion of the LGDF could negatively affect services such as police and fire protection, sewer and flooding protection, road repairs and snow removal.

Mayors from across the state are urging their legislators to oppose these local cuts in funding and have launched a statewide movement through a new website, www.ProtectMyTown.us.   This new social media platform allows the people of Illinois to reach out to their legislators and Governor Bruce Rauner.  You can help.  Go to the Protect My Town website, where it only takes 3 simple steps to directly contact your legislator and Governor:  1)  Fill out your contact information  2)  Review your letter and 3)  Click “Send” to complete the form.   You will also have the opportunity to forward and share this site through social media, encouraging  friends and family to take part in this movement.
