Should I be concerned about the groundwater if I have my own well?
Yes. A family may have its own well, but people share their water source with everyone in the BACOG area. Water in the area comes from what is known as the shallow aquifer system, and all the shallow aquifer materials and waters in the BACOG area are interconnected. The shallow groundwater system is recharged in the Fox River Valley area; if ground water gets contaminated in one area, it may contaminate the aquifer system. If the water level goes down in your neighbor’s well, it is likely it will go down in yours, too.
